Photo and description

The Dyatlovo palace and park ensemble was built for the noble princes of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania Radziwills in 1751 on the site of a wooden fortress castle of the 16th century, in which during the Northern War there was a camp of Russian troops in headed by Tsar Peter I. The fortress could not be held by the Russian army, it was taken by storm by the Swedes, then plundered and burned.

The castle for the Radziwills was built on the ashes of the famous fortress. Subsequently, the luxurious residence was surrounded by gardens and parks, farm buildings were built, which contained princely goods, and servants lived.

After the Radziwills, the castle belonged to Marshal Stanislav Soltan, who did not stay on the side of the national liberation Polish uprising in 1830. All the property of the rebels passed to the Russian treasury. Including, the Soltan residence in Dyatlovo was transferred to the treasury.

During the years of the Nazi occupation, a Jewish ghetto was organized in the Dyatlovsky castle.

After the war, the castle building was restored and handed over to doctors. For more than 70 years a dental clinic has been located here. Few of the modern generation of Dyatlovites know that this small building, whitewashed with ordinary whitewash, was once an elegant palace of powerful Polish princes.

More recently, the building of the palace was recognized as a historical and cultural value. Now restoration work is underway in the palace, after which it is planned to open a local history museum in the palace, which will move to the residence of the Radziwills and Soltanov from the premises of the museum, in which it has already become impossible to store and demonstrate all the exhibits.
