Literary Memorial Museum Al. Altayeva (pseudonym, real name - Margarita Vladimirovna Yamshchikova (Rokotova)) is one of the branches of the State Art and Historical-Architectural Museum-Reserve of the city of Pskov.

The house-museum is located on the bank of Plyussa in the old manor house of the Log estate. The park is located on the left bank of the river. The manor house, built of wood, occupies a small plateau at the very edge of the slope leading to the river. A flood meadow stretches between the foot and the river. The Plyussa river itself reaches about 30-40 meters wide, and its waters are especially fast; it became the border of the manor on the north side. The house rises 20 meters above the river, and the balcony offers a wonderful view of the river and the wide valley following it, ending on the horizon with a strip of forest. From the west, the estate has a border in the form of a winding dirt road; the eastern border is represented by the access road. In the southern part of the house there is a vast wetland area with vegetation. To the south of the house there is a utility house, which contains the remains of former buildings.

The manor park has a landscape character with circles of regular planting. Among the old-growth specimens, linden, birch, spruce can be noted, and among the ornamental ones - bushes of black currant, lilac, yellow acacia. In the northeastern part, the remains of a frozen fruit garden were found. Paths and roads are rare here.

The names of the author and the builders of the manor house are unknown. Initially, the Log estate belonged to V. Zinoviev, a participant in the 1812 war. Until 1837, the owner of this estate was his daughter - Zinovieva Alexandra Vasilievna, who received the house as a dowry. After a while, in 1837, the house was sold to Mr. Shchetinin - Major General.

In 1843, next to the estate, a chapel was built in honor of Mitrofaniy Voronezh. According to some sources, the manor park was founded in the first half of the 19th century and developed until the 1890s. Starting in the 1890s, Varvara Nikolaevna Pisareva and her daughter Olga Konstantinovna Gorinevskaya became the owner of the estate. In 1895, Gorinevskaya met Margarita Vladimirovna. This woman lived a long life - from 1872 to 1959, carrying within herself the years of two centuries of Russian culture. The books of this famous writer told about human thought, which awakened in the reader a love not only for culture, but also to the history of the whole world.

In 1929 Yamshchikova M.V. buys from Olga Konstantinovna an outbuilding from the Log manor house. The writer has the warmest memories of this wing: “There is only one nature everywhere and there is no habitation. The air here is so fragrant and fresh that it seems as if you can never get enough of it. An unprecedented silence is all around ... ”. Only in November did Margarita Vladimirovna move to the old house of Gorinevskaya, which was completely wooden and sheathed with planks; the two facades of the manor house were beautifully decorated with wooden columns, and the magnificent balcony was facing Plyussa.

The currently existing memorial and literary museum of Al. Altayeva is entirely dedicated to the famous writer M.V. Yamshchikova.
