Eagle Rocks description and photos - Russia - South: Matsesta. Detailed information about the attraction. Description, photos and a map showing the nearest significant objects. Photo and descriptionEagle rocks hang over the crooked side of the Agura river valley, not far from the famous Agursky waterfalls. The rocks are sheer limestone walls with a height of over 200 m. There are two ways to get to the rocks, where, as the locals believe, Prometheus was chained. One path leads from the Agursky gorge, past the waterfalls. Another path leads towards the first, from the old Matsesta. It takes about an hour to get to the top of the Eagle Rocks (379 m above sea level). There is a sculpture of Prometheus breaking the chains. At the top of the cliffs there is an observation deck, from where a beautiful view of our West Caucasian three-thousanders opens up - the Chugush mountains, Northern Pseashkho, Sugarloaf. Opposite the cone of the wooded mountain Bolshoi Akhun (663 m) is visible, and below, at a depth of 250 m, the Agura river runs along the bottom of the gorge. All its waterfalls are visible. If you wish, you can go down to them along the path. And then, after swimming, get off to the Agura bus stop to return to Sochi.
