The title in English is Palazzo Comunale. Photo and descriptionPalazzo Comunale is one of the main palaces of Grosseto, a tourist attraction of the city. It faces the northern end of Piazza Dante. Nearby is the majestic Cathedral of San Lorenzo. The left side facade of the Palazzo faces Corso Carducci, the main street in the historic center of Grosseto. Today, the Palazzo Comunale houses the Giunta (administrative executive body), the City Council and the administrative offices of Grosseto. The palazzo was built in the second half of the 19th century, or rather, in 1867, to accommodate City Council, which until then occupied the now destroyed building of the Palazzo Pretorio. In the place where the palace stands today, the church of San Giovanni Decollato was once located, later secularized and adapted as a warehouse. The church was then finally demolished. Palazzo Comunale consists of three floors. Its main facade is preceded by a portico of three semicircular arches separated by powerful pilasters. National flags are installed above the central arch on a small terrace. Through the other two semicircular arches you can go inside. The upper part of the facade is notable for the clock pediment.
