Dovbush rocks description and photos - Ukraine: Yaremche. Detailed information about the attraction. Description, photos and a map showing the nearest significant objects. Photo and descriptionDovbush Rocks are one of the most famous Ukrainian natural attractions, which is located in the Dolinsky district of Ivano-Frankivsk region. Finding rocks is not easy - they are scattered across the beech and spruce forest at an altitude of 670 meters above sea level and are characterized by an unusual appearance. Namely, they represent a group of lonely rocky pillars up to 80 meters high. Nature here breathes pristine and if not for the high-voltage lines passing nearby, then finding yourself here - you can feel like a hero of ancient legends. Everything here seems fabulous - the bizarre shapes of sandstone rocks that were formed 70 million years ago at the bottom of the sea, and today they amaze with their grandeur and originality. Under the influence of wind and water, the rocks collapsed and acquired their present shape, which resembles the figures of fantastic creatures. The rocks got their name in honor of the leader of the rebels, Oleksa Dovbush, famous in these parts. Together with his guardsmen, he hid here during the struggle against the oppression of the Polish gentry, Moldavian, Austrian and Hungarian feudal lords. There is something to admire here. So, for example, one of the rocks is called "Dovbush's Fist" and it really resembles a giant fist in shape that Dobvush threatens enemies with. The passage between the rocks along a narrow gorge looks fascinating and indescribably beautiful, when you are surrounded by high cold rocks overgrown with moss on both sides. And if at first glance, it seems that the passage here is not at all difficult, then in a certain place you may encounter an insurmountable difficulty. The fact is that the passage between the rocks here is only 20-25 cm, and if you do not know how to wriggle like a snake or your build is "more than average" - you are not allowed to go here. A huge round boulder, which lies on another boulder of the same kind, looks no less extreme - it seems that one wrong movement and this stone will roll down, demolishing everything in its path.
