Photo and description

The Kebir-Jami Mosque is an outstanding architectural monument of Simferopol, the oldest building in the city. The inscription at the entrance testifies that the mosque was built in 1508. After a fire in 1740, the mosque was restored and subsequently rebuilt several times. It was last restored in 1995. It is believed that the whiteness of the walls of the mosque gave its name to the medieval city of Ak-Mosque (White Mosque).
