Photo and description

The Valley of the Queens is located southwest of the Valley of the Kings. Many wives and children of the pharaohs rest here. Half of the 79 tombs have not yet been identified. At the same time, only a few are open to the public.

The most famous tomb is Queen Nefertari, the beloved wife of Pharaoh Ramses II. The walls of the tomb are decorated with images of the queen in the company of various gods. The burial chamber with 4 columns is painted with scenes from the Book of the Dead. Recently, the restoration of the tomb was completed, so visitor access here is strictly limited.

Amazingly colorful paintings have been preserved in the tomb of Titi. On the walls of the burial chamber, you can see images of the goddess Hathor in the form of a cow against the background of a mountain landscape and her in human form, reviving the queen in the waters of the Nile.

In the tomb of Tsarevich Amonkhepshep, a colorful wall painting with a predominance of ultramarine color has been preserved, depicting a pharaoh accompanying his young son to the gods of the underworld. A small mummy of a five-month-old baby was found here.
