Montesilvano description and photos - Italy: Pescara. Detailed information about the attraction. Description, photographs and a map showing the nearest significant objects. The title in English is Montesilvano. Photo and descriptionMontesilvano compared to other settlements in the province of Pescara is a relatively young city - it was founded only in the 11th century. And since there are no monuments of history and architecture of the era of Ancient Rome, of which there are plenty in other nearby cities, Montesilvano attracts, first of all, with its medieval atmosphere. For example, on the hill of Montesilvano Colle, in the old part of the city, there is a medieval citadel and many other buildings from the same period. Several beautiful churches can be seen here, such as San Michele and Madonna della Neve from the 13th century. The latter, however, was rebuilt a couple of hundred years ago, but retained some of the 16th century frescoes. Villa Delphico was built in the 18th century. It is surrounded by a spacious pine grove, and not far from it there is a sandy beach and part of the local nature reserve "Pineta di Santa Filomena". A cycle path runs along the entire coast of Montesilvano, which connects to the Pescara cycle path in the south - together they form part of the grandiose Ciclovia Adriatica project, designed to create a cycle route along the entire Adriatic coast.
