Photo and description

Primorsky Boulevard is a visiting card of Odessa and one of the most favorite places for walking for both visiting tourists and locals. This is not just a street, it is a place full of romance and antiquity. Here you can walk along the alleys in the shade of huge plane trees, chestnuts and lime trees, breathe in the salty sea breeze or enjoy the view of the endless sea. The boulevard runs along the coastline; its front facade is formed by beautiful old buildings erected in the style of classicism and early Renaissance. You cannot pass by the building of the Londonskaya Hotel, which boasts not only excellent architecture, but also the fact that many celebrities have stayed here. Once upon a time, on Primorsky Boulevard, the walls of the reliable and impregnable fortress of Khadzhibey rose, which de Ribas's detachment was able to take by storm. After this event, in 1928, the boulevard began to be actively built up, so Count Pototsky, Prince Lopukhin, Princess Naryshkina and landowner Shidlovsky bought a house here.

One of the main decorations of both the boulevard itself and the whole of Odessa is the famous Potemkin (Primorskaya) staircase, which was built in 1841. 192 steps lead to the Seaport, and one of the most recognizable monuments of this city - the mayor Armand de Richelieu (Duke) - is erected above the stairs. During the restoration of the boulevard, the remains of an ancient settlement of the 5th-3rd centuries were discovered. BC, today a glass dome was erected over the excavations and lights were installed, so that everyone can enjoy their view.

In the evenings, the boulevard turns into a real fabulous street. Centuries-old trees as if on command, thousands of colored lights begin to glow. Pleasure carriages pulled by two horses ride along the roads, couples in love slowly strolling complete the picture. The atmosphere here is full of romance.
