Museum of the main headquarters of Mannerheim is one of the main attractions of Mikkeli. The museum opened its doors to visitors in 2001. with the support of the Fund for Regional Development of the European Union and the Ministry of Education of Finland.

The permanent exhibition tells not only about the activities of the main rate since 1939. to 1944, but also about the main military events of those years, as well as about civilian life.

Marshal Mannerheim, being an experienced military leader, located the operational headquarters in the building of the central public school, located at a convenient distance from the Soviet front. Nearby, about 100 m from the headquarters, was the Communication Center. Due to the fact that the Center was located in a granite rock, it also served as a shelter from air attacks.
