The name in English is Terevaka. Photo and descriptionTerevaka volcano with a height of 511 m is located on Easter Island, the highest and largest of the island's volcanoes. This volcano is one of the three main volcanoes on Easter Island and was "born" about 12,000 years ago. The last eruption of the Terevaka volcano was about 10,000 years ago. From the top of Terevaka volcano you can see the whole island, the volcano has a triangular shape, and a panoramic view of the horizon. It has several craters, of which the most important are Rano Aroi and Rano Raraku. Rano Aroi is filled with water - it turned out a lake with the name of the crater - Lake Rano Aroe. This crater of Terevaka volcano is the highest - 200 m. Rano Raraku, with a height of 160 m and a diameter of 650 m, is also a lake. This lake is a large reservoir of fresh water, which is surrounded by reed thickets. At the base of Terevaka volcano there are more than 800 caves, including Ana-Te-Pahu. A lot of vegetation can be seen at the entrance to the cave. The Anna-Te-Pahu cave is also known as the Banana cave, Ana-te-Pora and Ana-Kakenga - a cave of two windows. Around the entire circumference of the volcano's foot, you can find ceremonial places for ritual rituals, as well as others archaeological sites, they are important, but very difficult to get to, so they are not as famous as other archaeological sites in other parts of the island. The most important of these are Ahu Wai Mata and Maitaki te Moa. To climb Terevaka volcano, you can start your route near Ahu Akiva and continue up the southern slope to the summit. Once a week, as part of a tourist group, you can climb to the top by car. There is no road, you can just drive on the grass. If you stayed below and did not go with the tourist group by car, you can track the entire path of the group to the top of Terevaka volcano by the glowing headlights of the car.
