The Valencia Institute of Contemporary Art is one of the largest and most important contemporary art museums not only in Spain but throughout Europe. It is located in Valencia, in the northern part of the El Carme area. The purpose of the museum is not only to showcase the works of contemporary artists, sculptors, photographers, but also to promote the art of the 20th and now the 21st centuries, support modern talents and familiarize the masses with the trends of contemporary art. The museum was opened in 1989. In 2001, additional exhibition areas were added to it.

The appearance of the institute building fully corresponds to the content of its expositions. With its modern forms, strict straight lines, the museum building immediately attracts attention.

The museum is very popular - a huge number of people visit it every day. There are numerous works of famous masters of our time, such as Julio Gonzalez, Ignacio Pinazo, Miguel Navarro. It also presents masterpieces of such outstanding masters as Goya, Velazquez, El Greco, Van Dyck. The museum pays special attention to the art of photography. There is a large exhibition of photographs and photomontages.

In addition to the permanent exhibition, the museum annually arranges from 3 to 5 temporary exhibitions lasting from one to three months. The museum building constantly hosts symposia, conferences dedicated to the themes of contemporary art and its impact on culture and society.
