The Bangsbo Museum is housed in the picturesque Bangsbo Manor, located three kilometers from the main railway station in Frederikshavn.

The first mention of Bangsbo dates back to the founding date of this city - to 1364. Earlier there was a medieval castle, from which only a deep moat, dug for defensive purposes, remained. The modern manor house is located on a hill. It was built about 250 years ago, in the 18th century.

Now, on the territory of the Bangsbo estate there is a huge park consisting of a zoological garden-reserve, a botanical garden and a rock garden, where amazing specimens that are older than a thousand years. There is also an open-air summer theater. The park is a favorite place for walking, the river also flows here. The manor house itself houses the Bangsbo Museum.

The Bangsbo Museum is dedicated to urban history dating back to the Viking Age. The reconstructed typical Viking boat from 1163 stands out in particular. A separate exposition is devoted to the history of navigation, which presents a variety of archaeological finds found at the bottom of the ocean, models of various ships and ancient technical equipment of ships. Another museum wing showcases the everyday life of a typical 19th century city dweller, including clothes, dishes and other household items from that era. The premises in the estate itself were also reconstructed, including also a stunning banquet hall. Also, the Bangsbo Museum has one of the largest exhibitions in the whole of Northern Europe dedicated to decorative items and jewelry, created from human hair.

Next to the main building of the estate there is a small old wooden structure that has been preserved since 1580. Most likely earlier it served as an office or utility room. It now houses an exhibition of vintage cars.
