Photo and descriptionPrivoz is one of the oldest and largest markets in Ukraine. This is not just a place where you can buy a variety of products, fruits and vegetables, this is a place where you will fully experience the flavor of the old Ukrainian city of Odessa, where you will hear the original dialect inherent only in this city and will be able to plunge into the atmosphere of a real market. Today Privoz is a historical landmark of Odessa. Its construction began in 1827, when, according to the city's development plan, a large market was opened on Privoznaya Square. Initially, this market was part of another - the Old Market. Its name - Privoz, the market got due to the fact that it was usually traded in imported goods that were brought in by carts, wagons, etc. In 1913, the Fruitsky Passage was built, which still amazes with its beautiful architecture. These are four two-storey buildings that are connected by arches. The whole composition looks solid and airy at the same time. On the columns were huge cast iron vases with fruit. The bodies, which are arranged in pairs, are interconnected by means of glass roofs. Each building has a basement floor, which allows storing products; there are shopping arcades on the ground floor. And although since the time of its construction, the building has been rebuilt several times, however today it is a real decoration of Privoz. In the late 1990s, the market was expanded and reconstructed. This is how the fish and meat buildings were completed, along the Panteleymonovskaya street were built two shopping and office centers, numerous shops. The complex of shops, as well as the Black Sea hotel, were included in the complex, which was named "New Privoz".
