Photo and description

The small town of Pontedera since 1924 is inextricably linked with the name of the Genoese engineer Rinaldo Piadgio, who in that year moved here part of his aircraft building enterprise. After World War II, his factory was converted into a motorcycle factory, which literally changed the face of the city. Today, the Piaggio Museum is located in Pontedera, which exhibits many models of aircraft produced in its factories, as well as a huge historical archive. And in a large hangar opposite the Piadgio factory is the Sant'Anna Valdera Center, which works in the field of information technology and robotics.

In addition, more recently, Pontedera has become a center for contemporary art - this happened thanks to the construction of the Othello Chirri exhibition center and the placement of numerous sculptures in the city's squares and squares. Especially popular are the so-called Designer Benches in Piazza Garibaldi. In the original open-air museum, you can see such works as "The Wall" by Bach, "Oleander" by Carmassi, "Bull" by Cashella, "Young Woman" by Vanga and others.

In 2009, the “Centrum Sete Sois Sete Luas” opened in Pontedera, a cultural center originating from the festival of the same name dedicated to popular music and plastic arts. Here, with the help of contemporary art, cultural tourism, folk art, as well as local products and wine, the art and culture of the Mediterranean countries and countries are promoted speaking Portuguese.

Theatrical art is no less popular in Pontedera: the new Teatro Era staged world-famous avant-garde performances. Pontedera and the surrounding towns of Tredjaya and Montecastello host a variety of cultural, musical and theatrical events throughout the year. In addition, every Friday since 1417, the San Luca fair is held here - one of the largest in all of Tuscany.
