Photo and Description

Khami, a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1986, located 22 km west of Bulawayo, inherited the main architectural features of Great Zimbabwe. The age of Kham is dated to the XV-XVII centuries. The way in which the stone structures were built is reminiscent of the walls of Great Zimbabwe, but in Kham, the use of a variety of decorations and decor testifies to a more sophisticated design technique. The majesty of the buildings and the variety of artifacts discovered, most likely a semblance of regalia, suggest that once the building was used to govern the state, which historians call Torva.
