Photo and description

Lake Wildsee is located in the immediate vicinity of the large Tyrolean ski resort Seefeld. The distance from the main station of this city to the lake does not exceed one kilometer.

The lake cannot be called extremely large - its maximum length is 650 meters, width is 200 meters, but at the same time it is quite deep - more than five meters.

Lake Wildsee attracts many tourists due to its amazing landscapes and picturesque views. First, it is worth noting that the large mountain Gschwandtkopf rises above it, which is almost 1,500 meters high. Secondly, the shores of the lake are distinguished by quite interesting flora - the eastern shore is overgrown with sedge and thin reeds, while the western shore is very wooded. And in the south, the lake gradually turns into a real swamp, called Reither Moor, which is now a protected natural area. Surprisingly, on this swampy, swampy soil, beautiful trees grow - European mountain pines, common in the Alps and Pyrenees.

As for the history of this lake, it is obvious that the ancient city of Seefeld, first mentioned for the first time, grew up around it. in 1022 and now known as a ski resort. It is also known that under the Holy Roman Emperor Maximilian I - that is, in the XV-XVI centuries - this lake was a popular place for breeding various types of fish. It was especially famous for its lampreys, but soon their population disappeared.

Now the lake is very popular among tourists not only because of its amazing landscapes, but also because of the purest water, ideal for swimming. There are two comfortable beaches on the shores of the lake. However, it is worth visiting Lake Wildsee in winter as well, as completely frozen it is a truly breathtaking sight.
