It is also known that under the Holy Roman Emperor Maximilian I - that is, in the XV-XVI centuries - this lake was a popular place for breeding various types of fish. It was especially famous for its lampreys, but soon their population disappeared. Now the lake is very popular among tourists not only because of its amazing landscapes, but also because of the purest water, ideal for swimming. There are two comfortable beaches on the shores of the lake. However, it is worth visiting Lake Wildsee in winter as well, as completely frozen it is a truly breathtaking sight.
