Monument to the conqueror of the city of Alanya - Sultan Aladdin Keykubat I is located in the western part of the city and is the very first monument that welcomes tourists arriving from the airport.

Aladdin was the sultan of the Seljuk dynasty who ruled Alania in the 13th century (1219-1236). He fought for power with his older brother Keykavus I, who became the sultan in 1211, but was defeated by him and imprisoned in the Guzer-Pirt castle, near Malatya. After the death of his brother, Keykubat was freed by the emirs and he was enthroned.

From the first years of his reign, Sultan Aladdin Keykubat I proved to be a successful military leader and a far-sighted ruler. During the conquest of Central Asia by the Mongols, he prudently fortified Konya, Sivas and Kayseri, surrounding them with new towers and walls. In 1221, the sultan recaptured the Kalonoros fortress on the Mediterranean coast, which belonged to the Armenian Cilician kingdom. And here, by order of the Sultan, the length of the already existing fortifications was increased, and the port was rebuilt.

After five years of battles, the Seljuk Sultan Alladin Keykubat I captured Alanya in 1221 and ordered to erect a monument that would become a symbol of domination Turks on the seas, and also reliably defended the bay of the city. Thus, Keykubat left a significant mark in the history of the city, completing the construction of the castle of Alanya and erecting a powerful and colorful fortress located on a high hill, called Kyzyl Kule (Red Tower) in 1224.

The sculptor depicted Keykubat riding his horse, ordering the Seljuk troops to attack the enemy. It was the sculpture of Aladdin Keykubat I that allowed Alanya to achieve recognition as one of the monuments of medieval architecture. The buildings of the Keykubat period are fundamental and majestic.

The monument perpetuating the most significant "owner" of the city of Alanya is located not on the central city square, as is the case in most cases, but at the entrance to the city "from the side of the authorities" there is practically on the western outskirts in the direction of Antalya, the administrative district center of the entire region, which now includes Alanya. So it turns out that every time someone from the district leadership wants to look into the subordinate town, the famous sultan will greet him warmly at the entrance. True, not quite on the main road, but not far from it.
