At the intersection of Leninsky Prospekt and Teatralnaya Street in the city of Kaliningrad, the Motherland Monument rises. The sculpture was installed in 1974 and in March 2007 it was recognized as a cultural heritage site (of regional importance). The monument was made according to the project of the sculptor Boris Vasilyevich Edunov.

The monument, erected on a high granite pedestal, represents a woman-mother with strong-willed facial features, holding the coat of arms of the RSFSR in her left hand. The fluttering shawl behind the figure is the originality of the massive monument. There is a plaque on the pedestal, the inscription on which speaks of the creation of the westernmost region of the country (1946 - the formation of the Kaliningrad region as part of the USSR). The sculpture is set on a small artificial hill with granite steps. The monument is located in a public garden and is connected by an alley with the city fountain.

Earlier (in 1958-1974) on this granite pedestal there was a bronze sculpture of Stalin (a copy of the famous sculptor Vuchetich). In the early 1960s, the monument to Stalin was moved to Teatralnaya Street (later dismantled), and the townspeople began to ironically call the new sculpture "Motherland" on a high pedestal of "the father of all peoples" "Fatherland".

Nowadays, the territory of the Motherland Monument has been ennobled and is often used for mass city events. In the immediate vicinity of the monument are Victory Square and the Cathedral of Christ the Savior.
