Photo and description
The Industrial Museum of Bristol introduces visitors to the history of the development of industry - transport, automotive, printing and aviation.
The museum is located on two floors in a former port hangar. The transport section of the museum presents various bicycles, motorcycles, buses and cars. Since Bristol is now the center of the British aviation industry, a large place in the exposition is devoted to aircraft and helicopters. But Bristol is also one of the most important ports - and the history of shipbuilding and port equipment occupies a large place in the museum. In particular, the external display presents a working sample of a steam port crane, manufactured in 1878.
In the hall dedicated to printing, operating samples of printing presses and printing equipment were exhibited. Museum booklets, tickets, etc. are printed on them.
A separate exposition is devoted to the history of the slave trade and the role of the Bristol port in the African slave trade.
In 2006, the Industrial Museum was closed for reconstruction and opened in 2011 under the name "Hangar M" (M Shed).
