Photo and description

Loutraki is a small coastal town in the northwestern part of the Greek island of Skopelos. Loutraki is the second largest port on the island.

Today, Loutraki is a very popular tourist center of Skopelos with excellent infrastructure. There is a good selection of hotels and comfortable apartments, as well as cozy restaurants and cafes (most of which are located near the waterfront) where you can enjoy excellent local cuisine. Beach lovers will not be disappointed either, as there are many good beaches in Loutraki and its surroundings.

You should definitely visit the traditional Greek settlement of Glossa, whose harbor is actually the port of Loutraki. Glossa is located at an altitude of 200-250 m above sea level on the slopes of a picturesque hill overlooking Loutraki, about a 30-minute walk from the harbor. This is a real Greek paradise with narrow cobbled streets, pretty stone houses immersed in greenery and flowers in the traditional architectural style of these places and an incredibly relaxing atmosphere.

Among the attractions of Loutraki and its surroundings, it is worth noting the remains of the ancient citadel of Selinus, and also the ruins of Roman baths (4th century BC) and the sanctuary of Athena (5th century BC). Of particular interest is the monastery of the Archangels and the charming church of Agias Ioannis Kastri, which went down in the history of world cinema as the place where scenes from the famous feature film "Mama Mia" were filmed.

You can also take a fascinating excursion to the picturesque Greek island of Skiathos. It is in close proximity to Skopelos Island, just opposite Loutraki harbor. The journey takes only 15-20 minutes.

Loutraki is often referred to as "Glossa" in tourist guides.
