Photo and description

Minsk Victory Park is a favorite vacation spot for residents of the capital of Belarus. The park was founded in 1940, when it was decided to build an artificial Komsomolskoye Lake with the most prosaic goal - to protect the city from flooding in spring floods.

In order to build Lake Komsomolskoye, a 35 hectare pit was dug by hand and a dam was built on the Svisloch River. The park and the lake were built by local residents - young guys and girls.

Due to a sad coincidence, the grand opening of the park and lake did not take place. The park was supposed to open on June 22, 1941, but it was on that day that the war began.

When the war ended in 1945, many came to the park and remembered all those who arranged it with love and hope for a happy future. In memory of those who did not return from the war, it was decided to call this place Victory Park, and the lake - Komsomolskoye (after all, the Komsomol members really built it).

More than one generation of Minsk residents has grown up in this beautiful park, which resembles a real forest in the center of a big city. The park is changing to meet the needs and tastes of today's youth. New attractions, light-dynamic fountains were opened in it, and beautiful multi-colored lighting was made.

The park will also be interesting for those who prefer active rest - there are many sports grounds, a beach and a boat station. Families with children come here - comfortable and beautiful playgrounds have been built for children. Young people are walking in the park - having fun and dancing. Here they wander thoughtfully elderly people, tired of the bustle of the big city, sit on benches and in gazebos. There are fewer and fewer old people who remember how this park was built and those who fought for a peaceful sky over Minsk.
