The Sundarban National Park, located in North Bengal on the border with the People's Republic of Bangladesh, is a biosphere reserve and is most famous for its tiger conservation program. It is a system of 54 small islands covered with mangrove forests, separated by seven main rivers and their tributaries.

The Sundarban Park was created in 1973 as a conservation area for Bengal tigers, for which this area is a natural habitat a habitat. Further, in 1977, the Sundarban raised its status to a nature reserve, in 1984 it already became a national park. And 5 years later, in 1989, after being included in the UNESCO World Heritage List, it received the status of a biosphere reserve.

At the moment, about 400 individuals of royal Bengal tigers live on the territory of the National Reserve, which have two features: they are quite aggressive and tend to attack humans, and they are also adapted to life near salt water bodies.

In addition to Bengal tigers, for the sake of which the reserve was originally created, speckled and Bengal cats, jungle cats, foxes, flying foxes, pangolins, common mongooses, axis live in Sundarban.

The Sundarbans are home to many aquatic animals, reptiles, reptiles and waterfowl due to the abundance of water. So in the park, sea crocodiles, several species of turtles (green and olive turtles, bissa), a dog-headed snake, and a water fisherman are quite common. There are many fish in the rivers.
