The title in English is Wroclawskie krasnale. Photo and descriptionWroclaw gnomes are figures of dwarfs that began to appear on the streets of Wroclaw since 2001. Their number is constantly growing, and the gnomes have become a popular tourist attraction in Wroclaw. Nowadays, there are even special city tours organized to find all the city gnomes. The number of gnomes is constantly changing: old ones become victims of vandalism, new ones are installed in different parts of the city. The idea to install gnomes in the city came from an underground group, and later from the "happy" movement "Orange Alternative", which operated in several Polish cities. The first painted gnomes were created in Wroclaw according to the idea of the main organizer of the Orange Alternative movement Waldemar Friedrich, and the most famous organized public action was the Demonstration of the Dwarfs, which took place in June 1987. In 2001, the first monument to the dwarf was erected on one of the streets of Wroclaw. In 2003, the mayor of the city decided to support the city's tradition, ordered to install a miniature plaque at the height of a human knee on one of the city walls near the Market Square. Since then, gnomes have begun to appear in various parts of the city. In June 2008, two unusual gnomes were installed: a blind and a deaf-mute. The installation was timed to coincide with the “Wroclaw without Barriers” campaign aimed at helping people with disabilities adapt to city life. Five days later, the Wroclaw Department of Hematology and Oncology installed another gnome under the “I have a dream!” Logo.
