Pokrovsky square of Kharkov is one of the city's attractions. The square is located on the slope of Stepan Khalturin Street, adjacent to Universitetskaya Street from the west. Originally the square was called Terrasny.

Terrace square with a fountain, cascade and stairs was laid in 1951. on the site of the former building "Old Passage", which belonged to the merchant Pashchenko-Tryapkin. The passage was destroyed during the war by fascist German troops.

The park was built for two years (1951-1952). The construction was supervised by architects M. Lutsky, I. Zhilkin, G. Wegman and A. Mayak. In the park, flower beds were made, trees and bushes were planted, paths were laid, and a cascade of fountains was built.

In May 2009, the square was renamed Pokrovsky. A beautiful panorama opens from the upper terrace of the square, from where you can admire the Zalopan part of the city, Proletarskaya Square and the Annunciation Cathedral. On the Pokrovsky square, architect Y. Shkodovsky and a sculptor. I. Kavaleridze was erected a monument to the Ukrainian genius philosopher and poet G. Skovoroda. A little further from the monument is the territory of the former fortress of Kharkov.

In 2009, reconstruction work was carried out in the park, after which it was transferred to the possession of the Holy Intercession Monastery. The top of the fountain is decorated with an Orthodox cross, and the water in the fountain is consecrated by the Kharkiv Metropolitan.
