On Pushkinskaya street, house number 13, there is a literary and memorial museum of A.S. Pushkin. In the 20s of the XIX century, this house belonged to a well-known merchant in Odessa - Charles Sicard. Here was located one of the first hotels in the city - the Hotel du Nord, where, upon arrival in Odessa on July 3, 1823, Pushkin stayed and lived for a month.
For thirteen months of Odessa, he created the poem `` Gypsies '', completed the poem `` Bakhchisarai Fountain '', wrote thirty lyric poems and two and a half chapters of the novel `` Eugene Onegin ''. The street where the great poet lived, formerly called Italian, was renamed in 1880 to Pushkinskaya. In Pushkin house (as the Odessa residents - admirers of the poet's talent called) the museum of the great poet has been operating for more than 30 years.
Here you can get acquainted with old prints of Pushkin's Odessa, portraits of the poet's contemporaries, unique Pushkin autographs with drawings, rare lifetime editions of works Pushkin. Each item of Pushkin's time, presented in the exhibition, transports into the world of Pushkin's images, conveys the spirit of the times, the mood of the poet.
Tens of thousands of people visit the museum every year. Meetings with creative and scientific workers, open lessons, consultations for students, evenings dedicated to the memory of A. Pushkin, book and art exhibitions work here.
