The Garden of Forgotten Plants, also known as the Rasponi Garden, is located at the intersection of Via Rasponi and Via Guerrini in Ravenna. This charming green oasis, open to the public, seems to be hidden behind powerful walls. Access to the garden is through an elegant courtyard and 18th century gate designed by Camillo Moriggia. Both the courtyard and the gate have recently been meticulously restored to regain their former splendor.

The creation of the garden was initiated by the local administration and the People's Bank of Ravenna (Banca Popolare di Ravenna), who decided to present the city with a park where history and nature meet, and where residents and tourists can take a leisurely stroll and relax in the fresh air ...

The special location of the Rasponi Garden between luxurious palaces, once belonging to the noble families of Ravenna, and the shape of its flower beds that surround a central fountain made of wrought iron make this garden stand out from others. In the flower beds, medicinal plants alternate with those traditionally used in Mediterranean cuisine. Thus, basil, capers and oregano can be seen here next to the fragrant and holly hyssop. And hops and lovage coexist with carrots, artichokes and chicory.

The Garden of Forgotten Plants with its magical gates is truly a wonderful place for amazing discoveries. The powerful walls that surround the perimeter of the garden muffle the city noise, creating a literally tangible magical atmosphere, complemented by the colors and smells of herbs. From here, another Ravenna becomes visible - the dome of the Cathedral rises on the horizon, surrounded by other historic buildings.
