Basilica del Voto Nacional in Quito is the largest neo-Gothic basilica in South and North America. To raise money for the construction of this temple, a salt tax was even introduced at the end of the 19th century. But all the same, the construction of the temple lasted more than a hundred years, and was not completed, but the cathedral was consecrated in 1988. The entrance to the temple is paid for tourists. You can go up to the observation deck in one of the towers and enjoy the view of the city and the surrounding area.
