The title in English is Perg. Photo and descriptionPerg is a city located in Upper Austria, in the Muhlviertel municipality, 35 km east of Linz and 7 km north of the Danube. Back in 1269, King Otakar II granted market rights to the inhabitants of Perga. Throughout its history, the city has experienced many fires, keeping only the 15th century parish church unchanged. The Habsburgs granted Perga independence, but the citizens had to pay an annual tax. During the Napoleonic wars, French troops under the command of General Adolph Edouard Mortier almost completely sacked Perg and Muhlfiertel. The area around Perga temporarily turned into a theater of military operations. In March 1938, German troops entered Austria. Perg was incorporated into the German Empire. The integration started immediately. Political parties were disbanded, censorship and currency exchange were introduced. Perg became a regional center. During the war, field hospitals were established in Perge. After the end of World War II, Perg was in the zone of Russian occupation until 1955. After the withdrawal of Soviet troops, Perg turned into a large economic, administrative and medical center. In 2002, a catastrophic flood occurred in Perge, which caused significant damage to roads, dams, power plants and pipelines. Interesting to see the Church of St. James, built in 1416, where the Gothic the interior, as well as the 16th century baroque pillar of the city's main square. The city's museum exhibits items from archaeological excavations conducted near Perga.
