The title in English is Bad Schallerbach. Photo and descriptionBad Schallerbach is a small settlement located in the federal state of Upper Austria. The large city of Linz is about 30 kilometers away. Previously, this city was part of the powerful Bavarian Duchy. The city itself is now known as a health resort. The first mention of this settlement dates back to the end of the 12th century. The city was badly damaged, first during the Napoleonic Wars, and then during the Second World War. The first sulfur springs were discovered here after the First World War, but because of the Anschluss of Austria by Hitler, all baths and hospitals were closed. The resort resumed its activities only at the end of the 20th century. The oldest building in the city is the Church of St. Peter, erected on the Romanesque foundation of the X-XI centuries. However, its appearance as a whole underwent a large-scale reconstruction, and in the end the temple was almost completely rebuilt at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries. The interior decoration was made in the same era and stands out especially for its main altar, made in the form of a mosaic. Previously, St. Peter's Church served as the center of the city parish. An ancient cemetery with various monuments and tombstones has been preserved around it. Another interesting building is the small church of St. Mary Magdalene, towering on a hill. It was built at the turn of the 14th and 15th centuries and is a typical building made in the Gothic style and has survived to this day in almost unchanged form. As for the new parish church, it was built after the war - in 1958 and is distinguished by a wealth of interior decoration. In the summer season, a variety of colorful music festivals and theatrical performances take place in the spa park of Bad Schallerbach. In winter, the city hosts frequent concerts of Christmas carols and church music.
