Sultan-Saadat mausoleum ensemble description and photo - Uzbekistan: Termez. Detailed information about the attraction. Description, photos and a map showing the nearest significant objects. Photo and descriptionThe ancient necropolis of Sultan-Saadat is located in the suburbs of modern Termez. In this architectural complex, which was built in the period from the XI to the XVII century, there are tombs of representatives of the influential family of Seids, who were descendants of the grandson of the Prophet Muhammad. The historical ensemble of Sultan-Saadat is a number of religious buildings: mausoleums, mosques, khanakas, which are built along the central aisle. The oldest structures are considered to be two large single-hall square-shaped domed mausoleums dating from the 11th century. One of them houses the tomb of the founder of the Termez Seid dynasty, Hassan al Emir. A 15-meter dome was erected over the portal of this tomb. Due to this, the most ancient mausoleum is also the tallest among the buildings of Sultan-Saadat. The second mausoleum looks more modest and ascetic than the first. The two tombs were united in the 15th century. In the second half of the 15th century, two new buildings were built in front of these mazars. Neighboring buildings appeared in the XV-XVII centuries. In front of some of the mausoleums, ancient masters built large arched portals with majolica decor. In the XVI-XVII centuries, the northern and southern courtyards of the complex were occupied by mausoleums of different sizes. You could get into the closed courtyards only through the passages arranged in the western part of these sites. The majestic ensemble of Sultan-Saadat is mentioned in guidebooks as a group of mausoleums, similar in shape, structures and decorations, but erected in different architectural styles.
