Photo and description

Cherepovets is a large industrial center in the northwestern part of Russia. It is also notable for the fact that since the beginning of the 19th century there has been a small island of manor culture, which is a country estate of the famous landowners Galsky and Kudryavy called "Gorka". The estate is a monument of architecture, culture and history of the early 19th century. The uniqueness of the Galskikh estate lies in the fact that it is one of the examples of the preservation in the city of an unusual system of utility rooms, which includes human huts, two barns, stables, a round garden, oil mills, and a saddlery workshop. In 1989, the creation of an ethnographic and historical museum began in the area of the previously existing estate.

The manor complex is a traditional composition with a pronounced distinction between residential and economic zones. From the southern part, the ensemble ends with a stable yard, and from the north - a manor house, looking directly at the river. A beautiful round garden with a greenhouse and greenhouses was laid out between the zones. On all sides were human huts, a foal, a barn, a management house, and other buildings.

The most majestic two-storey manor house looks like, built in the first half of the 19th century, which bears a vivid example of a wooden manor building, which is recognized as a unique architectural monument of the highest artistic and cultural level. Harmony and purity of proportions, complete balance of volumes and perfectly traced details - these facts testify to the professional skill of the creator. Clear, the strict and clear composition of the house is especially characteristic of the architecture of the late 18th - early 19th centuries. The house is built of larch, and its dense wood protects well not only from dampness, but also from the harmful effects of pests.

The central part of the main facade of the house is perfectly distinguished by a triangular pediment and a six-column portico, which rests on an arcade. The courtyard facade faces the south side; the rear facade has a stone appearance with side projections and a large attic window. The complex multi-pitched roof is made by a belvedere, which is surrounded by a balustrade. The roof offers a beautiful view of the city and the river; the whole estate can be seen from the side. The main hall of the house is made in blue, and French curtains look elegant throughout the interior. The living room armchairs are made of Karelian birch; there is an antique mirror and a cabinet made of mahogany.

In the famous Galsky and Kudryavy estate, the feeling of rural patriarchal life is preserved, because it is here that you can sit on the banks of the Sheksna or relax in the shade of a linden tree, ride horses and enjoy the true the beauty of the manor house. The museum presents the exposition "The History of the Family - the History of Russia", which is located on the second floor of the manor house and tells not only about the history of the whole house, but also about its owners, starting from the 30s of the 19th century. Visitors to the museum will be able to get acquainted with the pedigree of the families of the Kudryavs, Shitovs, Rezanovs, Galskys and see real authentic things from the Kurkino and Gorka estates.

The popular exhibition "Folk Art in the House of the Galskih" will present to visitors the works of traditional folk art of the Vologda land. It is this exposition that will give an idea of the ethnographic objects of the 19th - early 20th centuries. Numerous household items made by the hands of northern craftsmen delight in the virtuosity of their performance, and also amaze with an impeccable sense of rhythm, scale, color and integrity; all objects are characterized by extraordinary expressiveness, because their creation took place with creative imagination and great love.

The Galskikh Estate Museum constantly hosts painting classes, interactive tours, lessons on making traditional folk dolls and clay modeling. In addition, there is an equestrian section for children, and for adults there are equestrian riding passes. Anniversaries, theatrical weddings, winter holidays are held according to the planned requests. Especially interesting poetry and musical evenings take place.
