Photo and descriptionAt the Glims farm, you can learn about the history of the Finnish peasantry. The Glims estate, located in the village of Karvasmaki, was created in the Middle Ages. According to legend, the first owner of the estate in 1540 was Peder Nielsen. The Glims estate was not only a peasant estate, but also an inn on the Royal Route and the official residence of the Lensman (police rank). The last owners of the estate were the Lonnberg family (from 1800 to 1949). In 1958, the estate turned into a museum, which naturally reflects the peasant life in Finland during the Middle Ages. All buildings in the museum zone, which recreates the life of the 19th century, with the exception of one, remain in their original place.
