Photo and descriptionThe Church of St. Ignatius of Mariupol is the city church of the Donetsk Metallurgy Plant in the city of Donetsk. On the territory of Ukraine, this is the first temple built and located on the territory of an industrial enterprise. The temple itself was named after Saint Ignatius of Mariupol, who was the Metropolitan of Kafai and Gotfei and the founder of Mariupol. In February 2003, the place where the temple was to be located was consecrated. And in April of the same year, the foundation of the temple was laid. In June, the walls of the building were already completed and a dome with a cross was installed. In July 2003, the opening and solemn consecration of the temple took place. It was completed in five months. By 2007, the painting of the walls was completed and an extension to the altar part - the sacristy - was built. Since 2004, the community of this temple has been publishing a supplement to the Metallurg newspaper, which is called Ignatievsky Blagovest. Archpriest Georgy Gulyaev is the rector of the Church of Ignatiev. In 2011, in honor of the Metallurgist Day and 8 years since the day the temple was consecrated, 10 years since the day when the plant was created a site for pouring the bell, as well as the 140th anniversary the plant itself - a slotted bell was made, which was installed near the temple. This bell was made at the factory itself, and it is unique, because before that there were only three bells with holes in them. This unique bell was made for two and a half months. There are four icons on it. And there are carved crosses on all four sides.
