Photo and description

The Church of the Entry of the Lord into Jerusalem is currently located in the village of Posolodino, on the edge of a hollow, on the Black River, which flows into the famous Plyussa River. In ancient times, there was a monastery in its place, which has two churches: a stone church located on the mountain in the name of the Assumption of the Most Holy Theotokos and a church built of wood, consecrated in the name of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker. At the monastery, in twelve cells, lived twelve brothers and an abbot.

In the 1580s, the invasion of Stephen Batory took place, during which the monastery was completely burned down. As soon as the Lithuanian devastation ceased, only Abbot Pimen and several brothers-monitors remained in the conflagration of the monastery. Lithuanian soldiers mostly killed numerous residents of the submonastic settlement, the other part of them was captured. After a while, after the Lithuanian invasion, the monastery was restored again, headed by its abbot. At that time, the monastery owned more than twelve acres of land.

During the 18th century, there were still two churches in the monastery: the stone Church of the Intercession and the wooden church consecrated in the name of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker. After the wooden church of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker suffered a fire, in 1836 under the builder hieromonk Theophylact, the church was restored again in 1743, although many difficulties that fell to the lot of the monastery were overcome on the way of its restoration. The newly built wooden church was consecrated in the name of the Lord's Entry into Jerusalem, initiated by the hieromonk and abbot of the monastery Theophylact. During the approval of the states by Catherine II in 1764, the Posolodin monastery called "New Pechory", unfortunately, was abolished, after which the temple became only a parish one, and its property was transferred to the St. John the Theological Chermenets monastery.

Under a steep ravine, in the church fence, the remains of a pre-existing ancient stone bell tower, as well as a cell, under which there is a stone-built entrance to one source, which is located in a cave, are still preserved. It was in this place, according to legend, that in ancient times the miraculous icon of the "Theotokos of the Assistant Hodegetria of Tikhvon" appeared. This icon depicts the Ascension of the Mother of God to heaven, the Holy Trinity, the Protection and Nativity of the Most Holy Theotokos, as well as four Evangelists. The icon is especially revered by numerous local residents and foreign pilgrims. Local parishioners claim that their land has never suffered from robbers, so all these favors are attributed to the power emanating from the holy icon of Tikhvin. The consecration of the icon took place under the Novgorod Archbishop Stephen, and existed here until the beginning of the 20th century. Slightly upstream of the Black River there is another small cave with a holy spring - "Fedoseev Klyuchok".

Beginning in 1786, the temple began to belong to the Luga district of the St. Petersburg province. Some time later, in 1822, chapels were built in the church, consecrated in the name of the Tikhvin icon of the Mother of God and St. Nicholas the Wonderworker, which were the result of the zeal of the Luga landowners Tishkov and Tatishchev. In the 1920s, priest Voznesensky Alexy Konstantinovich began to serve in the church from Posolodino.

The Temple of the Lord's Entry into Jerusalem existed until the end of the 1930s. Services in the church itself were still held, although most often the people went to pray in the caves, namely at the Fedoseyev Klyuchok and at the Mother of God. In 1937 it was closed, after which it was destroyed, and the pastors of the church were repressed.

Since the beginning of 2001, in the walls of a long-destroyed church, memorial services and prayers have been held by priest Oleg Zhukov. Since December 2009, the Divine Liturgy is regularly held in the church on Saturdays, and the evening service is held the day before.
