The title in English is Doi Tung Royal Villa. Photo & DescriptionThe Royal Villa was built as the summer residence of the late princess mother Somdej Phra Srinagarindra in the Doi Tung Nature Reserve in the famous Golden Triangle. The Royal Villa is now a museum, reflecting the princess's work to improve the lives of the hill tribes of northern Thailand. The princess always warmly called the villa “her home in the mountains of northern Thailand.” When planning the construction, the Royal Forestry Department offered the princess a donation of land for the summer residence, to which she refused. According to Somdej Phra Srinagarindra, she is equal in rights with all Thai citizens, and based on the law, she leased the land for 30 years. For the first time, the princess settled in the Royal Villa on November 23, 1988, just 10 months after the start of construction. Here she worked on her projects about the forests of northern Thailand and the improvement of the quality of life of the hill tribes. The royal villa is beautifully decorated with teak and pine. The simple interior design reflects the elegance and business-like character of Her Highness. The top floor of the building includes four sections: the princess's private quarters, a hall, a kitchen and the private quarters of Princess Galyani's daughter Vadhan.
