Photo & Description

The Victoria Museum includes three major museums located in Melbourne - the Melbourne Museum, the Immigration Museum and the Science Museum. He also operates the Royal Exhibition Center at Carlton Gardens. The Museum also owns the body of Australia's most famous racehorse, the Far Lap stallion, whose skeleton is in the Te Papa Tongareva Museum of New Zealand, and its heart is in the National Museum of Australia in Canberra.

The museum dates back to 1854, when the Museum of Natural and Economic Geology was founded. In 1870, the Industrial Museum was opened, and a hundred years later it was renamed the Victoria State Science Museum. In 1983 they were merged into the Victoria Museum, later adding the Immigration Museum and the Melbourne Museum. Today, the general collections of the museum have about 16 million exhibits dedicated to the aboriginal history of the continent, the development of science, art and technology.

The Museum of Immigration introduces, as the name implies, the history of immigration to Australia. It was founded in 1998 and is housed in the old Customs House on Fliders Street. In addition to collecting collections on immigration, the museum hosts many temporary exhibitions and also conducts a number of educational programs. The museum is also famous for its Hall - an amazing example of Renaissance architecture.
