Photo and description

The Chapel of St. Lawrence is located in the old cemetery of Baska Voda. It was built on the foundations of an older structure by several residents of this village in 1750. It was the first public building built in the late Baroque style in Baska Voda. Bourgeois Yur Yurishich Akchich should be grateful for the appearance in the church in 1766 of a baroque image of St. Lawrence. In the second half of the 20th century, the reconstruction of the Church of St. Lawrence took place. From 1976 to 1985, the church's exterior and roof were refurbished, with particular attention to the small structure that crowns the main facade and is intended for the bell. At the same time, a new bell was installed here - a gift from the parish of Our Lady of Lourdes in Zagreb.

The Chapel of St. Lawrence is surrounded by tall trees, behind which it is almost invisible. It is a small, windowless stone building with a simple portal to which a well-worn path leads. The interior of the church is modest and simple.

In general, in the local parish there are several chapels similar to the chapel of St. Lawrence, which are now not used for divine services, but are a reminder of the old days and the subject of admiration of numerous tourists vacationing on the Makarska Riviera ... In 1926, the chapel of St. Nicholas was built in Biokovo, decorated with a stone statue in honor of the patron saint of the temple. In another village called Rogach, there is a chapel of the Purgatory of Souls and the Church of the Immaculate Conception, built by monks in 1857. The last chapel houses a wooden statue of Our Lady.
