The Museum of Sex and Sexual Cultures of the World, which opened in 1999 in Kharkiv, is a unique and one of a kind museum in Ukraine that conducts educational and awareness-raising programs in this area.

The opening of the museum was initiated by the staff of the Department of Sexology of the Kharkov Medical Academy. Who should visit this museum and why? Firstly, the museum is designed for couples and young people who are just about to get married. Secondly, the museum staff have developed special educational programs for adolescents, a separate exhibition dedicated to the sex education of children has been opened, which can be visited by young people aged 15 and over. For the rest of the halls, the age limit is 18 years.

The Museum of Sexual Cultures of the World is based on the collections of the private collection of Professor Valentin Krishtal. So, here you can find materials on the sexual traditions of peoples from different parts of our planet - from Europe, Africa, America and ending with the eastern countries - Japan, China. Initially, the museum consisted of only 3 halls, where the history of human sexology from ancient times to the present day was presented.
