The memorial stone to Konstantin Simonov was erected on the Buinichi field in 1980. According to the will of the Soviet writer, who died in 1979, his ashes were scattered over the Buinichi field, along with the ashes of soldiers and officers who died in the battles for the liberation of Mogilev. At the place where the funeral ceremony of scattering the ashes took place, an ancient glacial boulder weighing 15 tons was erected, on which the autograph of Konstantin Simonov was engraved, and on the reverse side the inscription: “K.M.Simonov. 1915 - 1979. All his life he remembered this battlefield of 1941 and bequeathed to scatter his ashes here. " The stone was previously located on the territory of the Museum of Boulders.

In his younger years, Konstantin Simonov was a war correspondent for the Izvestia newspaper. He was present on the Buinichi field during the fierce battles for the city of Mogilev. He saw everything with his own eyes and later described it in the novel "The Living and the Dead", "Soldiers are Not Born", "The Last Summer" and the diary "Different days of the war."

The heart of Konstantin Simonov will forever remain with dear and memorable for him the city of Mogilev, and the ashes went only to the free wind, walking on the battlefield that has died down forever, the last brutal war.
