The Seaside Park in Liepaja is the largest park in Latvia. It is called “Jurmalas parks”, which in translation from Latvian means “Jurmala park”. This wonderful natural park stretches along the coast of the Baltic Sea for 3 km. And its area is 70 hectares. The Seaside Park is a matter of special pride for the inhabitants of Liepaja, because it is very beautiful, cozy, here you can take long walks and enjoy the fresh air and the opportunity to see many interesting things.

A huge number of paths and excursion paths. Walking along them, you can see a wide variety of plant species. For example, palms and cypresses. According to the results of the latest inventory, 33 species of native plants and shrubs and 140 species of introduced (intentionally resettled) trees grow here, 5 of which are rare species that are subject to protection.

The Seaside Park in Liepaja was created at the very beginning of the 20th century, or rather, in 1902. Naturally, the current appearance of the park is very different from the one that was invented a century ago. Wars, bad weather, storms left their mark. Since then, almost everything has changed here, but the main thing is that the park itself exists and receives a large number of visitors every day.

It is interesting that the beginning of the existence of the park was associated with the creation of the bath. The Russian tsar and his family came here in 1902. In a very short period of time, the number of baths in the park increased dramatically, and not only residents of the city of Liepaja began to come here, but also foreign guests. As you can see, for some time the Seaside Park served as almost a resort town. Later, Liepaja itself began to be called a resort town, and the park, thus, managed to remain a park, in our usual sense.

At the entrance to the park, the largest drums of the country are located. They are a symbol of the city of Liepaja, which in turn is considered the musical capital of Latvia. This status is confirmed by the Put, vejini! Concert venue, created in 1964. (which means "Vei, breeze"). It is a favorite venue for various concerts and festivals. One of the oldest rock festivals in the USSR, which is still being held, is the famous Liepaja Amber, which has existed since 1968.

On the territory of the Seaside Park, a display of the collection of sea fishing boats and the largest collection of anchors in the Baltic countries, which contains about 100 items from the 17th century to the present, are organized. The most massive anchors in the park include the Anchor Trail.

You can also ride a bicycle rail in the park. This design resembles a bicycle, but you need to ride on rails. You can ride a bicycle rail in pairs.

In addition, a large playground for children, a stadium, skateboarding grounds, tennis and mini golf are organized, you can see a beautiful fountain and visit many summer a cafe. And the road through the park will take you to the beach.

The Seaside Park in Liepaja is an amazing place.
