30 km from Savonlinna, there is a unique art center Retretti - one of the largest in the Scandinavian countries. The exposition of this museum is located in a man-made underground cave. Here you can see works by Finnish and foreign painters. The decoration uses artificial waterfalls and lakes, as well as light, sound and shadow special effects.

There is also an underground concert hall with 1000 seats, which hosts concerts of the Savonlinna Opera Festival.
