The title in English is Lago Llanquihue. Photo and descriptionLake Llanquihue is located 70 m above sea level in the Los Lagos region. Its area is 860 square kilometers, making it the second largest lake in Chile after Lake Carrera. The maximum depth of the lake is still unknown, but some cable probes have shown a depth of more than 350 m. The original name of the lake was `` Desag & uuml; e '', which means drainage, drainage, because the Maulin River flows into it. However, in 1897, the name was changed to Llanquihue (in Mapuche it means 'sunken place'). The tributaries of Lake Llanquihue are short. On the eastern coast, they come from the western slope of the Osorno volcano (2660 m), on the southern coast - they descend from the northern slope of the Calbuco volcano (2003 m). The most important of these is the Pescado River, which flows between Poza and Punta de los Ingleses. On the shores are picturesque towns that live and thrive thanks to the development of tourism in the area: Puerto Varas, Frutillar, Puerto Octau and Lianquihue and resorts : Las Cascadas and Ensenada. The towns of German settlers are characterized by national flavor and customs. Villa La Ensenada - a cozy building on the southeastern side of Lake Llanquihue - is a landmark in southern Chile. There are very beautiful places here, especially against the background of the snow-capped peaks of Osorno and Calbuco cutting into the sky. The evergreen vegetation surrounding the lake: beech, larch, oak `` coig & uuml; es '', shrubs and ferns - is one of the main attractions of the lake, in addition to its water surface, suitable for water sports and recreation. In the forest, you can find a fox, a skunk, a predatory buzzard and pigeons. Any tourist will find a hobby: canoeing, water skiing, swimming, or just fishing, sailing, or take a series of beautiful photographs. The climate on the coast of the lake is mild throughout the year. Many tourists come to this beautiful area of Chile to relax after hard work, soaking up its tranquility and crystalline beauty of the lake Llanquihue.
