The Palazzo Mocenigo Museum is located in the building of the same name, next to the Church of San Stae in the Santa Croce quarter of Venice. It houses a rich collection of fabrics and historical costumes, and the museum itself is part of the Foundation for the City Museums of Venice.

Palazzo Mocenigo is a huge building in the Gothic style. It was significantly rebuilt in the early 17th century when it became the seat of one of the branches of the Mocenigo family. The family itself was one of the most important in Venice - seven of its members were Doges. In 1945, the Palazzo, according to the bequest of Alvise Nicolo Mocenigo, became the property of the city municipality. Alvise was the last of the family and wanted the palace to be used as an art gallery. In 1985, it housed the Museum and Research Center of Fabrics and Costumes. Today in his collection you can see old exhibits brought from the museums of Correr and Gugggenheim, Palazzo Grassi and the Cini collection. In addition, on the ground floor of Palazzo Mocenigo there is a well-equipped library dedicated to the history of costumes, fabrics and fashion in general. It focuses on 18th century fashion. The palace itself is decorated with works of art from the 18th century, including paintings by Giambattista Canal and Jacopo Guarana. A collection of fabrics and costumes occupies the first mezzanine and the upper floor. The second mezzanine contains a didactic area.
