Photo and description

The Preikestolen Plateau is a flat top of a square-shaped giant rock, towering over the Lysefjord at an altitude of 604m. Outwardly, it looks like a church pulpit, which is why it bears the name “Preacher's pulpit.”

A breathtaking view of the surrounding landscapes opens from the plateau. This amazing site is one of the most famous and popular natural attractions in Norway. You can get to the cliff from Stavanger by ferry and car, spending about an hour.

The steep trail leading to the top is very difficult for inexperienced travelers due to the numerous ascents and descents. The ascent takes about 2 hours. For 8 km, you can observe the change of vegetation belts - from dense forests at the foot to high-mountainous mosses and lichens, also along the way there are picturesque places for recreation, where you can have a picnic and swim. Tourists who are physically difficult to climb also have the opportunity to admire the majestic cliff overhanging a giant boulder over the fjord, taking a trip along the fjord on an excursion boat.

In summer, the tourist point at the foot of the cliff offers travelers accommodation with a paid parking lot , meals and other essential amenities.
