Photo and description

The Grave Falls, one of the most famous waterfalls in the Eastern Alps, can be reached by bus from Neustift. To do this, you will have to overcome 15 km, and then walk for some time through the forest, albeit along a specially laid path.

Local authorities have taken care of those who like hiking. Various tourist routes have been developed for them, united by the name "Wild water trails". The most interesting and easy one is the walk that starts in the Tshangelair alpine meadow and lasts for two hours. Most of these trails lead to observation decks located near the Grava Falls, from where you can take impressive pictures of the water falling from an 85-meter height.

By the way, the Grava waterfall is considered the widest waterfall in this part of Austria. It is fed by the waters of three glaciers located high in the mountains. From the comfortable viewing platforms with wooden benches for relaxation, you can climb the "wild" paths along the cliff - closer to the waterfall. It is humid and cool near the waterfall; a cloud of fine water dust hangs over the current stream. You should dress for a walk to the Grava Falls in waterproof clothing. You should also take care of comfortable shoes, because you will have to walk a lot along gravel paths or even climb rocks.

From the waterfall you can go down to the river, on the banks of which tourists make pyramids out of stones for good luck. There are a lot of these figures here, and they are also a kind of local landmark.

In 1979, the Grava waterfall was declared a natural monument.
