Photo and description

Catholic temple & nbsp; was built in 1906. N. Krasnov is an outstanding architect, author of the project. Yalta was transformed with the appearance of another creation of this architect. But it was not completely completed, there was no bell tower. However, there is no bell tower today.

The history of the emergence of a Catholic church & nbsp; in Yalta refers us to 1855. Only five hundred people belonged to the city's Catholic community. Of course, the small house on Pochtovaya Street could not accommodate so many people. Yalta Catholics asked the deputy minister for assistance, they asked to build a prayer house for them. The petition was sent to the provincial authorities, but they were in no hurry to answer. Then the representatives of the Catholic community: Colonel M. Malinovsky, the Frenchman Verger and Dr. Byalokur began to search for a suitable plot of land. We found a good plot on Pushkin Boulevard, but its owner Maslovskaya asked for a very large sum for it. Within ten years, all the necessary documents were drawn up. Only in 1898 the building permission was given. But the previous, already drawn up diagrams and drawings were lost by this time. N. Krasnov took up the new project. By 1906, the main work was completed. However, the bell tower was not completed and the organ was not installed, due to the fact that there were no funds.

The temple worked until 1928. Then it housed various organizations, including a branch of the Yalta Historical Museum. Since 1988, it has been a concert hall where organ and chamber music sounded. An organ was installed here, the interior was updated, and special furniture was brought. The temple was allowed to return to the community only in 1991. And in the same year the first service was held there. In 1993 the temple was consecrated again.

Today the church belongs to the Odessa-Simferopol diocese. In his parish there are about two hundred people belonging to different nationalities. Also in this temple the divine services of the Greek Catholic Church are performed, since their community does not yet have its own temple. Concerts are held in the temple throughout the year. Organ works, works for chamber ensemble sound.
