The zoo is one of the favorite resting places of Yekaterinburg residents. The Yekaterinburg Zoo, with a total area of 2.5 hectares, was founded back in 1930. Its first collection consisted of only 60 animals, today over 320 species of animals and about 1200 individuals live here.

The zoo boasts five spacious pavilions for heat-loving inhabitants: for birds, for predators, for monkeys, for elephants and the Exoterrarium pavilion. In addition, animals of cold latitudes live on the territory of the zoo, there are enclosures for birds of prey, a complex of enclosures for predatory animals of Russia and animals of northern latitudes, a complex for Amur tigers and enclosures of bears.

Seventy species of animals contained in Yekaterinburg Zoo, included in the Red Book of the Middle Urals, the Red Book of the country and the International Red Book. These include such animals as the Cuban crocodile, fossa, Indian elephant, lion-tailed macaques, Amur tigers, tiger python, Moluccan cockatoos, Steller's sea eagles, tomato frog, radiant turtle, etc.

You can see animals in the zoo, which are not in any zoo in Russia, for example, the Amazonian leopoldi stingrays, silt turtles, the Moluccan sailing lizard, six-belt armadillos, the white-chinned monitor lizard. Only here the Brazza monkeys, purple turaco, kinkajou and Steller's capuchins breed.

In 1996, the zoo underwent a major reconstruction, which greatly changed its appearance. In addition, the collection of the zoo has significantly expanded and diversified. For the first time, visitors saw in the newly equipped pavilions the smallest monkeys - tamarins and marmosets, three species of lemurs and galago, mongoose and foss.

On the territory of the Yekaterinburg Zoo, there is a cozy cafe and exciting children's attractions, various holidays, exhibitions and competitions are held.
