Photo and description

Sos del Rey Catolico is a municipality located in the Aragonese Pyrenees, which is part of the province of Zaragoza and consists of five settlements, the main of which is the town of Sos del -Ray Catholic.

Sos del Rey Catolico is a small but very cozy old town with cobbled narrow streets, houses with stone walls and old tiled roofs, courtyards and balconies decorated with flowers. It seems that time has stopped here. And this is no coincidence - after all, many buildings in the city have survived from the time of its foundation. The city was formed in the 10th century as a border town during the Reconquista and was originally called Sos. In 1492, Prince Ferdinand was born here, who later became King Ferdinand II. It was in his honor that the city was renamed Sos del Rey Catholico (`` the city of the Catholic king '').

The city of Sos del Rey Catolico impresses with the richness of its architectural heritage. The city is surrounded by an old fortress wall with seven gates. On one of the streets is the old church of San Esteban, which consists of the church itself, the crypt and the monastery. One of the main attractions is the Palacio de los Sada, where Ferdinand II was born. The palace was built at the end of the 15th century; its main facade is decorated with the coat of arms of the royal family. The Stock Exchange building, built in the Middle Ages, the Casa de la Villa, built in the 16th century in the Renaissance style, which now houses the headquarters of the administration of the municipality, the medieval Jewish quarter, is well preserved.
