In the north-east of Spain, near the French border, there is an area of amazing beauty - the Aragonese Pyrenees. Picturesque high mountains, clean rivers and green forests coexist here with extraordinary cozy towns filled with the magical local Spanish flavor. One of the most beautiful places in the Aragonese Pyrenees is the small village of Aguero.

The town of Aguero is located on a hill, at the foot of an unusual rock massif of bizarre shape, which it owes to the natural conditions of this area, frequent winds and rains. Gray sandstone rocks have a special reddish tint due to the metal content in the rock. When approaching Aguero, a breathtaking view of the village and this extraordinary stone cliff opens up. From the top of the cliff, there are magnificent views of the surrounding landscape.

The town of Aguero itself is old and very cozy. Narrow streets wind between old stone buildings with reddish tiled roofs, the calm atmosphere invites you to relax, and the clean mountain air is intoxicating.

The main attraction of the town is the ancient church dedicated to St. James. The church was built in the 12th century in the Romanesque style. Despite the fact that the church was restored several times, many elements of the building have retained their original appearance. The facade of the church is decorated with decorative sculptural friezes based on biblical subjects. The main portal is also decorated with sculptural compositions on the theme of the worship of the Magi and the dance of Salome. Unfortunately, the author of these sculptures remained unknown.
